Leadership in
the Age of AI
AI is changing what organisations can do, how quickly they can do it and where work gets done.
As AI becomes part of how we analyse, decide, communicate, create and act, it is also becoming part of how we think. The leadership question is what happens to human capability as more of our cognition becomes shared with machines.

Navigation and Stewardship
Leadership in the Age of AI carries responsibility for both how we navigate what is changing and what our way of navigating does to us.
How do we move intelligently when the terrain — and increasingly the maps themselves — are moving?
AI is changing the conditions leaders are navigating while becoming one of the principal tools we use to understand those conditions.
Leadership requires the capacity to notice what is changing, gather what matters, make choices without requiring certainty, act, learn and move again.
What is our way of navigating doing to us?
Every choice about AI also shapes the human system using it.
This is the work of Stewardship of Human Capability: creating the conditions in which AI can extend what humans are capable of while keeping strong the capacities that allow us to participate intelligently in the first place.
Cognitive
Independence
The capacity to perceive clearly. The capacity to author movement. The capacity to take genuine responsibility for what results.
Cognitive Independence does not mean independence from AI. We will become increasingly interdependent with intelligent machines.
The question is whether that interdependence strengthens what humans are capable of bringing to the relationship.
“The way we navigate today must leave us more capable of navigating tomorrow.”
What does this mean for leaders now?
As AI becomes embedded in decision-making, analysis, communication and the everyday work of organisations, leaders are making choices about more than technology. They are shaping where thinking happens, how decisions are authored, where responsibility sits and what people continue to learn through doing the work.
And where human authorship continues to matter.
When AI increasingly frames what we see and what appears to matter.
When intelligent systems can generate options and recommend the next move.
When cognition, decisions and action are distributed between people and machines.
Without allowing it to become cognitive dependence.
In the leaders and organisations we will need tomorrow.
Bring the conversation into the room
Keynote
A substantive and provocative exploration of what leadership requires as human and machine intelligence become increasingly interdependent.
Leadership Briefing
A focused conversation for executive teams, boards and senior leaders to examine the implications for their own leadership, work and organisation.
